I began making coats for my own dogs in 1986. Soon I was making coats for friends and, as word spread, more and more people ask me to make a good fitting, warm coat for their pet.

I started Canine Coats as a business in 1999. We strive to provide a quality coat especially fitted to a variety of breeds in many color choices. You can see some pictures of happy canine customers modeling their new coats by clicking here.

In October of 2005 Lorraine was the featured guest on a television show Time for Animals sponsored by the Salem Animal Rescue League of NH.

Lorraine was packed up and on the road early for the drive to Salem on the day of the taping.

When Lorraine arrived the shelter was already buzzing with activity. Lorraine quickly set up her display and filming began amidst the shelters daily activities. Hostess Valorie Hayes welcomed her and asked about protecting our pets during the New England winters. Lorraine pointed out that Canine Coats’ two-layer construction is designed with fleece for warmth and corduroy for maintaining the shape of the coat through years of wear and washings. Valorie was particularly interested in the blaze orange fleece coats and collars with the reflective tape, which provide not only warmth, but safety as well. For the smaller dog, Lorraine introduced the tapestry totes, which provide comfort and convenience for the dog and owner when traveling. Filming concluded as a pair of ferrets played underfoot and others arrived for their turn on camera. It was an exciting day and a wonderful new experience. Lorraine was especially pleased that following the taping, Valorie placed an order for coats for her own dogs. This show aired in December 2005 in 14 cities and towns in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
